the Charlee is a ‘lifestyle hotel’ and the first of its kind in Medellín.
Desires International wants guests to expect as much from their hotel as they do from their destination and has promised one-of-a-kind architecture and interior design with unexpected amenities.
Indeed, they have lined up an impressive team to ensure that those expectations are met when the hotel opens in 2011.
Among the star-studded team are acclaimed father and son architects J. Paul Restrepo and Camilo Restrepo, who designed Medellin’s Jardin Botanico and Sony BMG´s Milan Records who have been brought in to control ‘mood engineering’. Presumably, they will be restricted to using film and music in this endeavour.
Love or hate the type of lifestyle the Charlee wants to embrace, everybody is likely to agree that the hotel’s concept perfectly captures a certain segment of Medellín, namely, its self-indulgence and hedonism. And located inside Parque Lleras, the Charlee is perfectly placed to do so.
Even those who love to hate it, might be tempted by the hotel’s specs which include among others, the largest hotel gym in Colombia, the first roof-top pool bar in Medellín and a first-class spa.
Those familiar with British slang will wonder whether the Charlee’s name is in anyway related to Colombia’s most famous export or whether this was a mere coincidence.
