Established in 1945, Teatro Lido has staged artistic and cultural performances for almost 70 years and is like a respected war veteran in Medellín’s theatre scene.

Teatro Lido has had its own trials and tribulations through the years and even closed in the 1990s due to a lack of funding and security problems.
But, it was subsequently acquired by Medellín’s city council and underwent a complete renovation which restored its original features and escalated its status to that of an Architectural and Cultural Heritage Site.
Since its re-opening, Teatro Lido has become like a vintage stilton cheese which, as time passes, becomes more and more appealing.
And when it comes to nourishing the inquisitive minds that still walk through its doors in their droves, Teatro Lido is able to multi-task between a wide range of live music, dance, film and theatre.
Teatro Lido no longer charges entrances fees which can give rise to long queues.
