Sopita Lounge was inspired by a Seinfeld TV episode where a chef renowned for his delicious soups shouts ‘No soup for you’ to those that don’t follow strict queueing, ordering or payment rules.

The owners of Sopita Lounge were so inspired by Seinfeld’s depiction of this real-life character they travelled to New York City to see Al Yeganeh, the man often jokingly referred to as ‘the terrorist’ by locals.

Of course, this being Medellín, rudeness is replaced with spoonfuls of passion and patience as the waitresses provide four different soup samples so customers can try before they buy.

Such considerate interaction may indeed be necessary in Medellín where for so long soup has been considered a prelude to a greater a meal.
