Museo Interactivo EPM is a science museum financed by EPM to promote subjects close to its heart.
Would-be visitors can learn how EPM (Empresas Públicas de Medellín) distributes water throughout the city of Medellín or which home electrical devices consume the most energy.
Be warned, the guided tour is long and without good Spanish it can become tedious.
However, just when you think it would have been a much better idea to take the tour of Edificio Inteligente EPM instead, things take a surreal twist and you enter a giant-sized fruit before being led into a simulator which gives you a stark warning about the current plight of the world.
What seemed like the perfect finale is then topped by another bizarre moment where each tour participant is chosen to represent a different animal from God’s kingdom and asked to pledge to save the animal or, perhaps, the world generally.
Sarcasm aside, the tour is effective and one feels energised and reflective about an issue which cannot be over-stated, namely, the worrying state of the planet.
Museo Interactivo EPM is located inside Parque de los Pies Descalzos so it’s easy to stock up on energy levels before or after the tour in one of many nearby restaurants.
