Los Alumbrados is a hysterical frenzy of stunning bold and bright saturation of colour.
For most of December and January, the inner child that seems so prevalent in Colombian culture takes to the streets and is captivated by Los Alumbrados.
The sky becomes filled with UFO-like petrol fuelled balloons (Globos) that roam the valleys and beyond for weeks, with the occasional crash landing. While technicolored buses weave their way through the night and ghostly trains appear filled with the silhouettes of dancing couples.
Los Alumbrados is a mesmerising month.
