Casa Museo Pedro Nel Gómez preserves the cultural heritage of Pedro Nel Gómez (1899 – 1984) who was one of the most prolific and talented mural artists in Latin America.

Pedro Nel Gómez was very much the beloved son of Medellín and many of his murals can be found in the city’s public buildings and spaces, including Universidad de Antioquia. The artist and scholar was also an urban planner by profession and helped to design the Laureles neighbourhood in Medellín.

Casa Museo Pedro Nel Gómez, set in the house where the late artist lived and worked, has its walls painted with some of his best murals which depict the rich cultural heritage of the people of Antioquia as well as important events in Colombian history. The museum also includes an extensive collection of his drawings, sculptures and wood carvings as welll as a collection of his private books and research articles.

Casa Museo Pedro Nel Gómez is easily accessed on the Metro de Medellin via Universidad station or on the Aranjuez bus in El Centro which goes via Centro de Desarrollo Cultural Moravia.
